Oh yes, there will be blood!

Hello, José. I want to play a game.

For the last couple of years, you have been given the privilege of ruling over a nation.

However, you didn’t use said privilege to fight unemployment or improve the quality of life in that nation.

Instead, you have used your power to close down hospitals and maternity wards in small villages and towns, and cut down on Social Security and on Hospital Welfare.

The truth is you couldn’t care less about the very people who have chosen you, since you only seem to have economicist concerns, in spite of calling yourself a Socialist.

Well, tonight you will learn the hardships of the working class of that country.

As you can see, you are chained to the wall. Within your reach, there is a saw and
€ 500,00. You have to saw your foot off to free yourself. However, the small, rundown house you are now in, that is not unlike those a lot of people who have voted for you are forced to live in, is in the middle of the woods. You have only 15 minutes to go to the public hospital in the nearest urban center, check in and wait in line for some Spanish doctor to see you before you bleed to death.

Should you succeed, you must know I am holding your girlfriend and children in captivity. They’re in a secret, closed quarters only I know the whereabouts of, and they have but a month’s worth of oxygen.

If you want to see them alive, you will have to live a month on that €500,00.
With that amount you must make the monthly payment of the housing loan to the bank, pay your condominium fee, buy your food, clothes, gas, health and hygiene products, pay your cell phone and your electricity, water, gas, phone, cable TV and net access bills. If you want to buy books, DVDs, CDs, go to the movies, a show, a sport event or indulge in any leisure activity of any kind, you will have to do with what little is left. If you want to travel or buy luxury goods, you will have to take on credit, and risk endebtment. You will have to take a public mean of transportation to work every morning, and if needed be, you must use the public medical, judicial and educational systems at all times.

Live or die, José, the choice is yours!

Let the game begin!
